It felt like no time had passed in the way that we’re so comfortable with each other personally and professionally. We’ve been friends for such a long time, and we knew what boundaries we have with  each other professionally, and we knew that we could get great stuff out of each other. She’s one of my best friends. But was this different? It was, in that we were a part of every nuance of this movie. There was a different level of intimacy. It was a much more hands-on approach, and we were both more responsible for our characters and the tone of the film. That’s just something that comes with age and experience. After all, we were barely 20, 21 years old in Titanic.-Leo

“Leo’s friendship is a major thing in my life. It’s a big relationship. I’ve known him almost twice as long as I’ve know Sam [her husband], but he’s never been a boyfriend, which makes it completely uncomplicated and very special. We met when we were very young and did a this incredible film [Titanic], which changed both our lives, but the best thing to come out of it was this friendship. We have grown up together.” - Kate

“She was my best friend for seven months. We’d unload the stresses of the shoot to each other, vent to each other, watch out for each other. Kate was just the perfect person to work with because she was very much one of the guys, and it would have been much harder without her. We were partners.” -Leo

Winslet reveals she wasn’t the only one affected by the chilly conditions: “Leo was just useless. He was like, ‘I don’t want to be cold anymore.’ I did the looking after. He was a 21-year-old baby.”

Though her co-star Leonardo Di Caprio couldn’t make the premiere, Kate says the actor is: “Leo is a very big part of my life. I’m very fortunate to find that friendship with the film hit it off right away.”

“It was just a thrill. It was sort of like the animal wrangler brought these two rare white tigers on the set. You were fascinated and wanted to watch them every minute, but you weren’t allowed to pet them. Now that they have No. 2 under their belts, will they consider teaming up a third time?

DiCaprio: “I don’t know, dahling. Shall we?”

Winslet: “Maybe we should just do something when we are really old and disgusting. Total has-beens. You know, ‘Oh, there they are again. Bless them.’ ”

DICAPRIO: Camera phones are, I think, harmless. [Dabbing his nose and holding up his blood-splotched napkin] By the way, I’m bleeding profusely. Look at all this blood!
WINSLET: Don’t pick.
DICAPRIO: But then I’m going to have a bloody, clotty thing on my nose.
WINSLET: By rubbing and pressing it you’re making the skin raw.
DICAPRIO: Yes, Mummy.

“When we filmed difficult scenes we developed a secret language of our own. With our history we could do anything without feeling stupid. “I would even let Leo physically harm me if it meant making a scene better, and I know he feels the same way. If we didn’t have this rare friendship, I don’t think we would be able to show that chemistry on screen.”-Kate
